What are some of your must haves for Back to School time? There’s so much to do around this time of year, and as soon as I check one thing off the list, two more appear! No matter what I get around to though, there are some organization must-haves that I can’t start the year without!
Let’s Talk Planners
I usually spring for the Erin Condren Teacher Planner, which takes several weeks to ship. This year though, I didn’t start thinking about preparing for the school year until a couple of weeks before, so I had to find a planner that I could pick out in person. I ended up wandering into Michael’s and finding a planner that knocked my socks off! It’s called the Happy Planner for teachers. It looks almost identical to Erin Condren planners, and is printed in full color with gorgeous monthly calendars, horizontal planning pages, grade book and checklist pages, and goal setting pages. It came with so many cute stickers that make my teacher heart happy! The best part is, instead of paying $60+ on an EC planner, I spent $15 on the Happy Planner! FIFTEEN! It originally retailed for $30, but I pulled the “I’m a teacher” card at the register and they had a 50% off coupon they applied. The ONLY downside I can see being a potential problem is the binding. Erin Condren planners have the metal coil and this one has plastic. Pages are easily removable but it also doesn’t seem as sturdy. But, it’s a small price to pay for an otherwise beautiful, affordable planner.
Add a Little Flair
Have you stocked up on Flair pens yet? These are an absolute must have for me and I carry them everywhere. There is a new set of colors released just in time for Back to School called the Candy Pop Pack. Find them on Amazon for a limited time in medium and fine point.
Back to School Night Parent Booklet
Back to School Night/Meet the Teacher is always something that used to stress me out! How could I juggle getting my classroom ready, labeling student names on everything, and planning for the first week with BTS Night looming over me?! I decided to finally create a tabbed booklet that I could tweak year after year with important and useful information for my parents in the first weeks of school. This is one of my must haves because it organizes everything I need parents to know and ensures a good start to the year with strong communication. Feel free to download an editable version of this booklet for FREE from my shop!
These are just a few of the things I use to organize and that make Back to School exciting and easier for me. What are some must haves that you can’t live without at the start of a new year? Connect with me and share ideas on Instagram, Pinterest, and Facebook!
